Douglas Charney is a Harrisburg, Pennsylvania–based wealth management leader and military veteran who brings a mission-focused approach to guiding clients through complex financial decisions. He is the founder and president of Charney Investment Group, established in 2016, where he advises individuals, families, and business owners on goals-based planning, investment strategy, and portfolio construction designed to support long-term financial confidence.
Before launching his firm, Mr. Charney held senior leadership roles within major financial institutions, including serving as managing director of the Charney Investment Group of Wells Fargo from 2011 to 2016, where he consistently earned Premier Advisor recognition. Earlier, he built deep experience as a financial planner and investment portfolio manager with Wachovia Securities (1998–2011), and also served as branch manager and senior vice president at Wheat First Butcher Singer, following earlier work with Dean Witter Reynolds.
Mr. Charney’s leadership foundation was shaped through active-duty service and continued roles in the US Army National Guard and US Army Reserve. His assignments included executive officer responsibilities in Germany with the 504th Maintenance Company, along with additional command and operations leadership positions. He studied business at Penn State Harrisburg and completed extensive military education, including Officer Basic and Advanced courses, Command General Staff College, and Airborne training at Fort Benning. He remains committed to service through mentorship and academic support, serving on the Penn State Harrisburg Board of Advisors and chairing the School of Business Advisory Board.
